Spring may be around the corner but many of us are still trying to keep our skin healthy and moisturized through the bitter cold. One of the main problems people experience are chapped and split lips, which is why it’s important to exfoliate the dead skin away with a good lip scrub. These can be purchased online or at the store, but where’s the fun in that? Here are some of my favorite recipes for homemade lip scrubs that will give you an enviable pout!

Coconut and Honey Lip Scrub

This is a very quick and easy lip scrub to get you started.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

  • 1 tablespoon organic honey

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 1/2 tablespoon lukewarm

Start mixing the coconut oil and honey. Add the brown sugar and the lukewarm water to the mixture. Rub it on your lips in a circular motion for two to three minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water. (via StyleCraze)

Asprin Lip Scrub

Asprin in a lip scrub? The over-the-counter medication is actually an acetyl derivative of salincyclin acid which, when paired with sugar, is a great exfoliator.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Asprin (without coating)

  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar

  • 2 teaspoons honey

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

  • 1 vitamin E capsule

In a clean container, add the aspirin and a few drops of water to break them down. If you prefer, you can supplement the aspirin with more brown sugar. Mix in all the other ingredients and your lip scrub is ready. If the consistency is too dry, add in more oil. If the scrub is too wet, add in more brown sugar. (via Beautylish)
