So what exactly is SkinVive™ by Juvederm® is the latest anti-aging product from our friends at Allergan Aesthetics. SkinVive™ is specifically designed to improve the condition of the skin and to last up to nine months only with one treatment session. Is there anything I should do before my SkinVive® treatment?
Prior to your treatment, we recommend avoiding alcohol for at least 24 hours. If you’re taking any medications, such as Warfarin, aspirin, or any other anti-coagulant medication, please let us know. If you’ve taken antibiotics or medications to treat acne, please let us know that too.
Is there downtime after this treatment?
Most people are able to return to normal activities within one day of treatment. Post-treatment, you may experience some small raised areas in and around the treatment site. They should disappear within a 1 or 2. Some people experience bruising, tenderness and redness, which tend to resolve in a few days. This mainly happens with guests who have sensitive skin. To expedite the healing process, we recommend you avoid drinking alcohol and applying makeup for 12 hours and exercise for 48 hours after treatment. Please avoid sun exposure, UV light, saunas and freezing temperatures for 2 weeks.
How do I know how much I’ll need?
When you come in for a consultation, we will tell you what you need, but in general, here’s what is typical:
Face – requires 2 mls
Neck – requires 2 mls

Dark spots appear as a result of aging, sun damage, hormonal changes, skin injuries and even certain medications. Dark spots are not always a result of something you’ve done! Sometimes they just happen.
Have you ever seen a celebrity with dark spots? Probably not, because celebrities know that dark spots instantly age you. Most celebrities will do whatever they can to appear ageless, but we all know they have access to some really special stuff, so what can YOU do?

Even if you already have dark spots, you can prevent more from developing. During the summer when you’re out in the sun more, sun spots will darken and new ones can develop. To prevent this, wear a high-quality sunscreen that is at least 30 SPF. Then practice sun safety by wearing protective clothing like hats, coverups, etc.
Finally, use the right products! Our Brightening Pads are a great way to keep skin bright and keep discolorations from sun and acne to a minimum all year long. If you’re looking for a brightening regimen, ask us for our recommendations.
IPL Photofacials are a great way to reverse dark spots. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacials are a popular non-invasive cosmetic treatment used to target a variety of skin concerns, including dark spots, sun damage, and uneven skin tone. The treatment works by delivering pulses of light energy to the skin, which is absorbed by the melanin in the dark spots and causes them to break down and fade over time.
IPL is best in Fall and Winter but not suggested for darker skin types and those with a history of melasma during June, July, or August while temps are at their hottest. Some of those skin types may require RX lightning cream to control discoloration during these months. IPL Photofacials are considered safe and effective, with minimal discomfort and downtime, making them a popular option for those looking to improve the appearance of dark spots!

PRX-T33 is a solution that is applied directly to a treatment area and massaged deep into the layers of skin. A series of 4 initial treatments is recommended. It is best if they are done 7 to 10 days apart. After your initial treatment series, quarterly maintenance is recommended for optimal long-term results and you’ll need to continue to practice sun safety to make sure the dark spots don’t return!
One of the most effective ways we’ve found to treat dark spots, melasma and uneven skin tone is by pairing two of our powerhouse treatments together. PRX-T33 works on the surface and does all that we noted above.
Tixel works a little deeper into the skin to give an immediate impact followed by lasting results in future. When these two treatments are done together and you do PRX first, you won’t experience the same downtime you would if they had been done on their own.

We often get asked, “so what is this PRX-T33 treatment all about?” PRX is a relatively new treatment that we are really excited about. It can be used as a standalone service, or paired with some of our other treatments to really change your skin and overall appearance.

Known for being the peel that doesn’t peel, PRX -T33 is a solution that contains a combination of trichloroacetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and kojic acid. During a treatment the solution is applied by a PRX-T33 certified professional directly to the treatment area and then quickly pressed into the skin with very precise pressure and technique. Because of the unique formulation and the precise pressure of application, the peel penetrates deep into the layers of the skin and stimulates the living cells underneath to multiply.
The new cells then move up to the surface and help promote collagen and hyalouronic acid production. You’ll notice your skin will appear hydrated and firm while the top layer of skin remains intact, fine lines and wrinkles will fade and your skin will start to behave like it did in your youth.

While PRX-T33 is often referred to as the “peel that doesn’t peel”, it really functions completely different than a traditional chemical peel.
PRX-T33 does not exfoliate the top layer of skin. In fact, as mentioned above, PRX leaves the top layer of skin completely intact and works it’s magic below the surface.
Most traditional chemical peels do the opposite. They exfoliate the top layer of skin and reveal a new layer of skin that isn’t as damaged.
Comparing a traditional chemical peel to PRX-T33 is really comparing apples to oranges, but both have their place in the treatment room depending on the client’s individual needs.
The advantage to using PRX-T33 over a traditional chemical peel is that you need to plan for downtime because you won’t experience:
Redness or irritated skin
Peeling or flaking skin
Sensitivity to the sun after a treatment
If you’re interested in getting started with PRX-T33, it’s a great time to try it because we’re running a special this month (March 2023). In general, most clients start with a series of four or more treatments, depending on the condition of their skin and their overall goals.
For best results, the first four or more treatments are suggested to be completed at a 7 to 12 day interval. Once desired results have been achieved, we recommend returning quarterly for maintenance treatments. If it has been more than a year, since you had any maintenance sessions, it is common to repeat the starting series for best results.
Clients with scarring , significant dryness, stretch marks or fine lines make even more progress when they combine PRX-T33 with some of our other modalities. PRX-T33 pairs very well with Tixel, CO2 and/or Micropen. Many clients also combine PRX treatments with Sculptra injections to replace volume.

Botox/Fillers
We always recommend getting a little touch-up on your Botox® and fillers before an event. Wrinkles, sagging skin and creases not only make it tough to apply flawless makeup, but they also don’t photograph well. Be sure to book injections a few days before your event in case of swelling or irritation.
If you’re considering a major change to your appearance using Botox® or filler, we suggest doing this a few months before your event and getting a touch-up just before your event if needed. This will give you some time to adjust to your new look and let the products settle.
HydraFacial®
The HydraFacial® is what celebrities do just before an event! This service delivers a shot (without needles) of vitamins & minerals to the skin, to smooth wrinkles and plump aging skin. “Can you reverse sun damage?” It’s one of the most frequently asked questions we receive. My answer is always, yes and no! Treating sunspots is not a black and white treatment so before we dig in to how to treat sunspots, let’s talk about what they are, how they happen, how to prevent them and then I’ll explain how we can help!
Sunspots are flat brown spots that can develop on the face and other areas of the body as a result of sun exposure. While they are generally harmless from a health standpoint, you should make sure you’re watching new spots to make sure they are only sunspots and not the start of something more serious. If you have concerns about new spots, I highly recommend seeing a board-certified dermatologist. That said, even though sunspots themselves don’t pose a health risk, many people are self-conscious of them and want to remove them!
Before I share how we can treat sunspots, I want to talk about prevention. It’s far easier to prevent than reverse sun damage once sunspots appear. To prevent sunspots, you should practice smart sun safety which includes:
· Wearing a high-quality SPF and reapplying it every few hours during prolonged sun exposure.
· Wearing protective clothing; large hats, sunglasses, light clothing.
· Avoiding sun exposure during peak and high UV times.

You may be wondering why we offer so many options to treat sunspots. The truth is, we offer multiple options so we can tailor treatments to the client’s overall skin needs. Having several options gives us the ability to select a treatment that will be safe and effective for your skin type and goals. We may even recommend using multiple modalities to help you reverse sun damage. To help you determine which service to book, I recommend scheduling a consultation with us so we can create an individualized treatment plan for you.
Because we offer multiple modalities, we can typically find a solution for most clients. It would be a unique situation for us to deem someone “not a good candidate” for sunspot removal.
This depends on a number of things including:
• How severe your sun damage is.
• The service treatment you choose.
• Whether or not your taking precautions outside of treatments while in the sun.
• If you follow our treatment plan.
In general, if you follow our treatment plan and home care instructions, we will be able to significantly fade and even erase sunspots in many cases.
Pre-treatment instructions and post treatment care will vary depending on the service you receive. For example, a chemical peel will likely have more “downtime” than PRX-T33. We’ll go over the pros and cons of each treatment option during your consultation so you can plan for downtime accordingly.
At-home treatments likely won’t be as powerful as in-spa services. To get noticeable results we recommend a combination of prevention tactics, like wearing SPF daily and protective clothing, combined with in-spa treatments and a good product regimen. Our CE Ferulic drops are the perfect addition to your home routine while trying to reverse sun damage at home in between your clinic visits. In some cases, we suggest prescription Triluma cream be used at home 12 weeks a year as well.
